LESSON PLANS:

As a group, we have organized the lessons into two general categories: (1) Telescopes: All Things Radio Astronomy and (2) People Behind the Telescope: The Human Aspect of Science . Lessons were designed to be implemented in the classroom sequentially or individually, based on the needs of the educator.

Before starting, our team advises all educators to read our Teacher Curriculum Guide. This guide is a thorough introduction into each lesson. It will help you, as the teacher, understand the thought-process that built each lesson. Additionally, we have created a Table of Contents to help keep the lessons organized and easy to follow. Below, the lessons are separated based on the two topics. The click here button will lead you to  the Google Folder for each topic. All documents will require you to make your own copy, making each downloadable and customizable to your needs!

We hope you enjoy each lesson. Please consider leaving us feedback about the lessons.

Topic #1: Telescopes

Within this folder, you will find lessons that start with a "What is Light?" lesson that includes instruction, a light hunt activity, and more to introduce the concept of light. From there, the lessons teach about telescopes and how to build your own!

Be sure to read the Teacher Guide to understand the sequential structure of the lessons.

Topic #2: People in Science

Within this folder, you will find lessons that start with a "Who are Radio Astronomers?" lesson that allows students to research who are radio astronomers. From there, the lessons lead into project-based lessons that are targeted by grade level. Students will create their own planets, astronomical images, and do the work of a radio astronomer!

Be sure to read the Teacher Guide to understand the sequential structure of the lessons.
